KMovie: My Number One Pick

I've seen a few Korean movies, as you all may already know (from previous posts) and although many of them follow the same storyline, i do have a favourite pick. *drumroll*
It's 200 Pounds Beauty, starring Kim Ah-jung, Joo Jin Mo, Kim Yong-Geon, Lee Han Wi, and Lee Wong Jong. Coincidentally, this was the first korean movie i saw. It's what got me hooked on Kmovies.
The movie is a 2006 South Korean comedy based on a Japanese manga called "Kanna-San, Daiseikou Desu" by Yumiko Suzuki. The story is about an overweight girl name Kang Han-na, who undergoes extreme plastic surgeries to become a pop sensation. It's a movie riddled with comedy, romance and a lesson to learn-- beauty is not about the outside, it's what's on the inside that matters. It's such a fun movie to watch.
Anyways here's the trailer below of her singing a song (in korean) and it shows a bit of what happened in the film. The movie is available in english so if you don't speak Korean, that's no problem.

Cheerleading Alliance

The other day i went to Canada's Wonderland with the familia to watch Karen (my sisterinlaw) compete in cheeleading and also to have a little fun day out. Apparently it was suppose to be hot, which it was NOT. It was so cold, and i was not dressed for the weather at all; especially how i was coming down with a cold. I had on a blazer and scarf but i was still so cold. I didn't really go on much rides because i was just cold and could not bother to wait in line for the rides. I basically just took pics and tried whatever i could to keep warm. Actually i wish i had taken more pics but i was cold and i couldn't bother with it to be honest.

Anyways, Karen performed and her team won FIRST PLACE! I'm so proud of her-- she was great! She did her entire routine without having a fall.. she didn't make any mistakes -- her routine was just wonderful. It was worth cheering in the cold *hehehe*

KMovie: Romantic Warriors

The most recent Korean movie i've seen was Romantic Warriors with Jin Jae Young, Kim Min Jung, and Shin Yi. The movie is about:
Yoi (Kim Min-jong) who is desperate for a better life with his younger sister, gangs up with "Romantic Warriors", an assassin squad, to make money. The squad, however, consists of dummy assassins who are ignorant of fighting nor martial arts. One day as they are on the way to their assassination big job, they got lost in a forest and stuck in a house haunting spirits of women who died with bitter grudges. Unknowing that the tripped assassins are that amateur, the female ghosts believed that they can make use of them to take revenge on those who killed them.

My verdict: The movie was OKAY... nothing special. It has some funny parts in there, while other parts were either cheesy or simply just cliche.

Something About Korean Movies...

For some reason i find myself watching Korean movies, and i'm not even sure how i got into Korean flicks. There's something about them that have me going back for more; and it's been over a year now. I don't watch them constantly but i have seen a good number of Korean movies. When i watch them i find that they always lack something and i'll tell myself i wont watch them anymore... but then i'll find myself still going back for more.

For those of you who are familiar with Korean movies will know that in many of the movies, they have very similar storylines. Rich boy meets poor girl-- he's cruel to her but she's in love with him-- then he falls for her but his family wont allow it-- she runs away in the rain-- he follows after her-- she somehow ends up in the hospital because of the rain--- Now she's now dying and he lays by her bedside....

It's just so cheesy and expected and i dont know why i keep going back lol. I guess there's something about cheesy-ness that catches my attention.. Korean movies have some kind of hold on me and i just cannot resist for too long *hehe*

Anyways i'm about to watch yet another korean flick (lol im an addict i need help!).

My birthday is today and in honour of my birthday i've made a list of random things about me you probably do not know

1. I'm currently wearing braces! (i sure am... and now i'm wondering why i ever got them)
2. I love to walk around in my pajamas when i'm at home (so comfy)
3. I'm the youngest of three.. apparently i'll always be the baby according to my mom
4. I don't drink pop/soda, i hate it
5. I prefer flats or sneakers over heels on a everyday basis (but i'd never go clubbing in sneakers!)
6. I've never been drunk and don't want to ever get drunk
7. I want to be an entrepreneur one day... i rather work for myself than someone else
8. I'm only 5'3, yeah im not very tall at all
9. I live in the countryside, and even though its boring i prefer it over the big city now
10. I don't have a favourite colour or favourite food
11. I hardly wear makeup, i love to go natural
12. I love to watch Golden Girls, this show's classic
13. I'm making this list when i should be studying
14. My mom and i are really close, she's my best friend
15. I no longer own a cellphone, i gave it away because i hardly ever use one
16. I don't have Twitter... i don't plan to join twitter either
17. Sometimes i'm an insomniac (most times)
18. I always leave final assignments until the last minute.. i'm really trying to change
19. I want to learn fluent Japanese and Filipino
20. I love tea. I drink tea every single day... I just love it
21. A lot of people think im 14 or 16... i hate it but in time i'll appreciate it (when im a lot older)
22. I love blistex lip balm... i can't go a day without it
23. When i travel i always pack unnecessary things that i know i wont use but i bring "just in case"

Ugly Betty: It's Over...Whyyy!

For one, i can't believe that Ugly Betty got cancelled. I'm not a fan of any new tv shows, because in all honesty there's a lot of crap on tv these days. Ugly Betty is the only tv show i actually looked forward to watching (aside from IR: Cold Case, 48 hours etc.).

Anyways apparently they're being cancelled because of poor views lately, which i think is not the show's fault. They kept moving the time around (wednesday to fridays, 9pm to 10pm etc) without really announcing it much, so many people basically just couldnt bother to figure out when the show will be airing. I think thats one of the main reason why the show lost so many followers...

So Wednesday was the show's finale which i didnt get to watch until today. I knew in myself that i wouldn't be happy with the show's ending. Reason being, they had so many issues to deal with before the show ended and would have to cram it all in a few episodes. The ending is obviously not what i expected but i guess it could have been worse... Amanda finally found her father, Daniel steps down and makes Wilhelmina sole editor of Mode, Betty leaves Mode and goes to London (whyyyy!) and now it seems her and daniel will end up together... I guess thats cute, but seriously why did they have to cancel poor Betty arghhh! I'm still trying to cope *sad face*

Trip To Mississauga

On Tuesday i went for a visit to Mississauga, and while there i had a lot of fun with my family and i ended up taking some photographs at the park. Actually we went to some stores and then bought some food prior to heading over to the park. I'm not sure what the name of the park is since im not too familiar with Mississauga but it was close to Dundas and Hurontario i think... Anyways the pics are below. Enjoy!

Breakfast At Dean Michaels

So my mom and i decided to have breakfast out since we haven't had breakfast together in awhile. We decided to visit Dean Michaels on County Road, heading towards Norwich (yeah it's in the country hehe). I did not sleep during the night and i didnt want to fall asleep during the day and screw up my sleeping pattern. Once it's messed up it's so hard to get back into my regular sleeping pattern. So i was happy that we were going out, because that would really help me stay awake. Anyways, I had a lot of fun out with my mom; she's a bit crazy sometimes and today was no exception. We laughed and laughed...and laughed some more. Then we ate, and ate until we couldn't move *haha*.

Photo Session: Frozen

So i've been going through my photography portfolio to look for new things to post since i havent really done much shoots lately (no inspiration at the time). Anyways i'll be posting more of my work as i go through my portfolio to display here...

In this series i'm showing photographs from winter about 3 years ago. It was an unforgettable winter because it was the one year that it was so cold the trees were basically frozen/covered in ice. It was so beautiful but undeniable cold ( i get chills remembering hehe). Also it was the same time that year my nephew was born, so it has significant meaning as well. The other day i did a little photo session in order to capture a new look (I love variety). I call this Retro Chic. Anyways i loved it; i had a lot of fun and some pretty decent shots came out of it. So after the session, i decided to play around with photoshop a bit to see what i can come up with editing wise. March Break Fun

During the march break, we decided to visit White Oaks Mall in London to get out of the house and do some shopping. So while we were there we saw this colouring station set up inside the mall for kids to colour and have a little bit of march break fun. I've wanted you for awhile now

During the holidays i had placed the Canon Rebel XSI on my wishlist but deep down inside i knew i wanted the newer T1i model. Well i'm happy to say that ive gotten what i wanted... What a way to start the new year eh? My Sony broke in December so im happy to have such a great replacement. The camera is all i was hoping for and more. The T1i is 15.1 Megapixel with a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD. It also has full HD video which i love :)
All in all, this camera has great features and then some. It's an awesome camera in my opinion (maybe a little bias, i know) *hehehe*

I'll be adding some photographs from my new shoot a few days ago :)

False Alarm

Last night our smoke detector kept going on and off for no apparent reason. There were no smoke or fire in the house, and i became a bit worried after some 2 hours of the annoying alarm. We weren't sure if it was the carbon monoxide-smoke alarm detector in the upstairs so we wanted to be safe. We did the safe thing and called the police station (non-emergency) and they sent out the fire department to do a check on the house. Now this was the first time i had to go through this; and we had to wait outside until they arrived and it weas COLD out there. Anyways they came... they checked... and everything was OKAY! Apparently the smoke detector upstairs is hardwired and most likely malfunctioning because they did not detect any smoke, fire or even carbon monoxide. I'm just happy that the house is cleared and safe, now i can sleep (i haven't slept in nearly 24 hours). Now i have to find a technician to replace this stupid detector, before it starts going off again when it feels like it.

From BAD to WORSE!

As i said before my camera is broken, and if that's not bad enough today the Olympic Torch passed through our town and i missed it. At first i was upset that i wouldnt have my camera to take pics but it didnt matter because i missed the event. I'm so upset because i was looking forward to this all week. It's not everyday you get to see the Olympic Torch and i wanted to experience it. Unfortunately that did not happen and i have to wait like another couple years (booooo). Gosh it's just not my week at all. Let's just hope things get better.

So earlier this morning i was viewing the pics i had taken of my family's christmas dinner when my camera fumbled out of my hand and broke! I'm so upset because ive taken such good care of this camera and even though i wanted a new camera i still wanted to be able to use this one. It only fell a short distance from my hand to the ground (soft carpet) so im just shocked that it's broken. Well i shouldnt really say broken as the lens is what's the problem. It's stuck and will not move so im unable to take any photographs. This really sucks because i've had a Kodak camera prior and my neice dropped it & it nearly split in two but worked fine to this day. Anyways, hopefully i can get this camera sorted out so i can take some winter shots to post up before the month ends.

It Didnt Feel Like Christmas
I hope everyone had a great christmas i was so busy i didnt have time to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Anyways i enjoyed the day with my family but honestly it did not feel like christmas at all. For one it didnt snow; it rained and washed away the little snow we did have. It was sloshy and slippery on the roads and felt more like a rainy spring day instead of winter. We were all hoping for a little snow for Christmas day but i guess better luck next year eh?

Exams are finally over!

I havent posted much on the blog since i opened it because i've been tied up with my studies. Being enrolled full time in university has kept my occupied most of the time, but ive finally got some spare time now that my exams are over, and i will update the blog soon. I've been in love with photography for as long as i can remember. When other kids were saving their little pocket change to purchase treats and toys, i was saving to purchase my first camera. I will never forget the day i bought my first camera, it's a day i'm proud to recall.
I remember my family and i travelling to London, and i remember going into this store and as soon as i saw the camera (and the price of course to ensure it fit my budget)
I said "I want that camera!"
And i remember my mom asking me with this suprised look on her face, "You're going to buy a camera?"
She was so shocked but i knew she was proud. I will never forget that "Kodak Moment" *hehe*.
So i bought a Kodak film camera, which i still have to this day and it is still in good condition.
